Jonathan Heywood hand-burnishing a microcement wall finish, North Cornwall

A studio of one

Built by a craftsman, not a contractor.

Cornwall Microcement is owned and personally applied by Jonathan Heywood — twenty years into a career spent on the buildings other trades step back from: listed cottages, glass-walled new builds, sea-facing renovations along the north Cornish coast.

Every project is mixed, trowelled and sealed by Jon himself. No subcontracted installers. No swap‑out crews. Just one set of hands answering for the work from first sample to final coat.

Craftsman applying a pigmented microcement finish coat, Cornwall

The material

Two millimetres deep.
A lifetime resilient.

Microcement is a polymer‑modified cement coating applied in micro‑thin layers over almost any sound substrate. Bonded with fibreglass mesh and sealed with two‑component polyurethanes, it delivers a continuous, fully waterproof surface — typically just 2 – 3 mm thick.

  • Fully waterproof and steam‑safe — ideal for showers and wet rooms
  • Apply over concrete, screed, tile, timber, plasterboard and most existing finishes
  • No grout lines, no expansion joints, no visible seams
  • Hand‑trowelled in 30+ colourways from the CimentArt palette
  • Compatible with underfloor heating
